How to resize a video for social media
This is how you change your video's aspect ratio to fit the social media platform you're going to publish on.
Selecting aspect ratio manually
When you enter a new project that doesn't yet have any clips on the timeline, you’ll get an easy aspect ratio selection menu in the video preview window.

Horizontal (16:9) — Ideal for YouTube or any other widescreen content.
Vertical (9:16) — Great for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Stories.
Square (1:1) — Often used for grids or social media ads.
Automatic aspect ratio selection
You can also simply drag some media onto the timeline and the editor will automatically match your project's aspect ratio to that of the first clip you put on the timeline.

Resize your video later
You can easily change the aspect ratio of an existing project. First, make sure you haven't selected any clips, then head to the Details tab in the top-right corner and click the ‘Resolution’ dropdown menu to pick a new aspect ratio. Here, you'll also find the 4:5 option — a great format for Instagram carousels and social ads.
