Zooming in and out of the timeline gives you more control and precision while editing — especially when working with frame-accurate cuts or long sequences.

Using a trackpad

If you're on a laptop or using a trackpad, make sure your pointer is on the timeline, then zoom in by using two fingers to pinch or zoom out by using two fingers to spread.

Using a mouse scroll wheel

Zooming on the playhead

If you’re using a mouse with a scroll wheel, hold Ctrl on Windows or command on a Mac and scroll the wheel to zoom in and out of the playhead.

Zooming on the mouse pointer

If you scroll while holding Alt on Windows or option on Mac, you will zoom in and out of your mouse pointer rather than the playhead.

Using the Timeline's horizontal scroll bar

At the bottom of the Timeline, you'll find a horizontal scroll bar. Click and drag the circles at the ends of the bar to zoom in or out.

Adjust Timeline size

Adjust the vertical space of your timeline by dragging the edge. When hovering over the edge, it will be highlighted blue and your mouse will indicate with a new icon that you can click to drag.
